How does it work?

There is no signup. You create a new user by submiting a correct answer when under a path like /user/john:hej123 for instance.

The :passphrase part at the end is to avoid name collisions.

Your unique-phrase like ilovedogs is then turned to in to something like b679e2e1 which is then suffixed to your public username. That way nobody else can access your page.

But please dont use any or your actual passwords here!
